Lest you doubt that I mean it to the full extent of the expression, check it out:
On the plate, in varying degrees of existence:
Frittata
- 2 eggs
- 1 oz of manchego cheese, chopped
- 1 oz roasted red peppers
- 2 sundried tomatoes, snipped into bits with kitchen scissors
- handful of frozen chopped spinach
- 1/4 cup pumpkin
- dash cloves
- generous shake of thyme
- sprinkle of garlic powder
Topping
- 8 or 9 spears of asparagus, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 strips facon, crumbled
- 1 oz blue cheese
- 1 or 2 cranks of coarse salt and pepper
Because I was hangry when I made it, I will recreate the spirit of the moment with the following instructions:
- Mix the frittata stuff together in a bowl and then make a frittata
- Mix the topping stuff together in a sprayed skillet and stir 'til it's frickin' done. Not the blue cheese too, dummy - you put that on top last.
- Eat it.
Aaaah...much better.
Restored to a much more sensible state, I jumped on this green smoothie bandwagon and tried one for myself, with the use-it-or-lose-it motivation of some odd salad greens and the last of my soymilk.
- 50g mixed greens (I think there's spinach, chard, frisee, purple stuff, Sunny D...)
- 3/4 cup light vanilla soymilk
- 70g frozen mango cubes
- 1 tsp flax seeds (I know it's flax meal in the pic but after I took it, I remembered I could put whole seeds in since the blender would grind them for me)
Enjoyed a la Lost...
It was really good! The smoothie, that is. Lost was good too, but the smoothie definitely exceeded my expectations. I used toasted flax seeds and that flavor really came through despite the small quantity. The greens and mango weren't especially noticeable; it was sort of this thick, sweet, nutty drink that I really enjoyed as a healthy dessert. I won't be doing this at breakfast times because a) I eat breakfast at work and b) I need to chew on something, thanks.
After dinner, the roomie and I went to a friend's house for game night. We played Trivial Pursuit. I won a dollar. :)
I also enjoyed a glass of vino. I guess this picture is the wine version of beer goggles? Haha...
And our hostess happens to be a very fine baker. She created her own recipe for a baked brownie pudding, which she served to us very daintily in little cups with a dollop of coffee Haagen on top. It was so good, I forgot to take a picture, but this is/was the baked good itself:
Pretty much my favorite dessert ever! Good times had by all, and not a hangry one among us.
