Evenin' all! I am blogging with a quickness tonight because I just got back from a date with the boyf and it is already 11pm!
So imagine my surprise when aforementioned boyf suggested that we try a raw restaurant for dinner before the movie tonight. Looks like homegirl stirred up some interest! I was happy to oblige. Since he loves him some Eye-talian food, I thought Adelina's might be a safe bet, since it serves raw and cooked vegetarian fare.
Not to be outdone by the girlf, though, boyf went all raw for dinner. Props and snaps for the open mind. It started off well, as we were served a lovely basket of raw flax crackers.
And then we progressed to what I thought were rather innocuous starter salads. I think this is where it started to go downhill.
I chose the zucchini marinara as my entree. It hit the spot for me, since the day's eats up until this point included very little veg, but there is no doubt in my mind that I liked my homemade version better. (Forever indebted to Gena, of course.)
The boyf got the zucchini pesto. I dove across the table for a sample of his and immediately pronounced it excellent (and not just for his benefit), but there was a distinct underwhelmedness emanating from his general region...

But what a good little doobie. :)
P.S. We saw Transformers II in IMAX after dinner, and I'm enough of a nerd to admit I pretty much enjoyed it way more than I thought I would. Majorly overblown (understatement of the year) and ridiculous? Yes. Was that what I expected? Yes. Mission accomplished. Sometimes I secretly wish I could do the Optimus Prime voice.

My hubby just took me to a vegan, organic restaurant with a rather extensive raw menu! It was A-MAZING@
OMG, I love the lettuce picture. That one would be framed in my house. In fact, it just might be anyway ;)
I love that he ASKED to go to a raw restaurant! So far I've only managed to get my husband to comply with my requests, but that's a start at least, right? :)
The pesto looks AWESOME!
Boyf's pesto dish looks GREAT! I want that!
The boy gets mad props from me -- I hope I can have y'all over for a proper raw din soon!
Hey- I'm impressed that your bf now asks to go to a Raw Restaurant! (props to him!) The pesto looks amazing! I love the restaurant in NYC, Josie's, it has everything! (dairy free, organic, vegetarian, and also something for meat eaters!) You should try it out.

p.s. i can not stop laughing at that lettuce picture -- what a character he is!
I've only heard negative reviews about Adelina (from trusted sources!!), so I avoided eating there while in NYC, haha ;-) Sorry that you had to experience it!!
Okay I am glad you liked the movie! Now I am feeling a little better about going my my boy. I wish I could make him eat like that! It looks great!
fun recap :) props to the boyf for trying!!
hahhaha what a fun post. His face in the last pic is priceless! :)
So good that he requested it though, so adventurous ;)
Diana, can I blow your mind for a second? The guy who does the voice of Optimus Prime, is also the guy who does the voice of Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh cartoons. Seriously.
I I totally love your blog. :) I don't comment nearly as much as I should. Sometimes I get shy. :)
