'Twas an early morning in Nevada last week, like this...
...that the boyf and I got to ride this:
One of Papa Boyf's buddies owns this here boat, and he was kind enough to take the boyf, Papa Boyf and me out for a cruise on Lake Mead last Saturday morning. I grew up riding "speed" boats often enough, but it's no exaggeration to say this is the fastest boat I've ever been on.
Fast boats prefer to be clean, though. Get to work, Cinderella.
Once the boat was all spruced up, we headed straight to the Hoover Dam for a photo opp. Aww:
There's a bathtub ring around the whole lake, which shows just how far the water level has fallen in recent history. When you're standing on top of the dam, it doesn't look like much from above, but once we were out on the water, I could see that the white ring is probably about 100 feet tall! Eeek. :(
Despite nearly having my eyebrows blown off by the speed of the boat, my companions finally convinced me to take a turn at the wheel:
And here we are at the narrows:
Except by this time we were hungry for lunch, so we turned around and made a beeline for the burrito joint.
Priorities, people!

Wow, that is a fast boat!
Just a quick question for you...BF and I are heading to NYC for four days and I'm looking for some good food recs. I've been re-reading your blog for ideas but do you have any specific places in mind that are "musts" while we're there?
Thanks!
Great pictures! Everything looks so beautiful.

The easiest way to browse my blog for favorite NYC restaurants is to click on "restaurant" or "new york" tags on the right side bar. I'm not sure where you fall on the veg/omni scale, but off the top of my head, I consider Rosa Mexicano or Mesa Grill a very fine Mexican treat. If you're a nut butter lover, PB & Co. is fun to visit. For vegetarian fare, Curly's Vegetarian Lunch is usually a hit and is located close to Union Square, which is a convenient hub for sightseeing/dining/transport. I tend to stay away from midtown/Times Square, so I hope my suggestions aren't too inconvenient! HAVE FUN!
that is so beautiful!
Haha I love your commentary! You're hilarious!
Looks like an absolute blast - I have a need for speed when it comes to boats :D
Bond girls everywhere are quivering in their high heels ;-) Beautiful scenery and it looks like you had a great time!
Looks so pretty! I grew up riding speed boats too..my dad had one but I used to cry if he went too fast!
hot dam is right :) lol, gorgeous photos!! and i don't think i've ever seen the water line up close :/ lovely eggplant in your last post, too!
Those pictures are GORGEOUS! And that picture of him is hilarious :-D
GOOOOOORGEOUS! I think you need a boat like that some day- you look so good on it ;)
Thanks for the tag option! I didn't even think of that. We're staying on the south side of Central Park but will be picking up some kind of transit pass. I can't eat shellfish, chicken or beef but also cannot eat any soy and don't like tempeh. It's a challenge when I'm eating out but I figure New York is a great place for me to find some awesome eats.
BF and I went to an awesome vegan restaurant tonight and he and I both loved it (we've been there before). So he's not opposed to eating vegetarian/vegan, which is a plus for me.
Off to check out the tags!
