I may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but a tool I am, and if it takes one to know one, then I’m pretty sure I’ve spotted more than a few good ones we’d all like in our kitchens.
Shall we indulge in our fantasies for a few minutes? (I said get your mind out of the gutter!). We can get the obvious out of the way first.
Vitamix:
I’m sure we can all think of a few things we’d do with an industrial-powered blender. For example: everything.
KitchenAid Stand Mixer
Ok, so this particular gadget would probably seem more essential if I was someone who baked often, but without fail, I wish I had a stand mixer every time I do bake. I’ll just have to file this one under “Eventual Wedding Registry Items.”
How about this exotic appliance? The Thermomix:
Ever heard of it? If not, trust me—you want one. And don’t let the $1,400 price tag freak you out. This one gadget combines just about every kitchen appliance you could ever need: food processor, mixer, blender, slow cooker, steamer, food scale, plus other functions I’m likely forgetting. Read this article about it and prepare to covet. Your jaw will hit the keyboard when you read about some of the things it can do.
When I studied abroad in Madrid during college, my host madre had a Thermomix and I remember consistently being shocked at the things that came out of it. I was also shocked at the things that went into it, for that matter! I think my favorite Thermomix recipe was for arroz con leche. Dios mio, man. Now, I’m not sure why this machine isn’t sold in the USA yet, but word on the street is that you can order it from Canada. I’m just sayin’.
Now that our eyes have totally glazed over, let’s bring it back closer to reality just a bit. I found this slideshow on Prevention’s website, which features a bunch of small gadgets that, while highly specialized, are highly cool (and low-ly priced!).
I mean, who doesn’t need that?

Obviously, being somewhat of a foodie and amateur cook, my wishlist is mostly populated with kitchen gadgetry at any given time. I could spend many hours online browsing things with which to pimp out my future kitchen. And maybe I do. Have you checked out the online network of CSN stores? It’s out of control! They’ve got everything from hot plates to home bars, and they were kind enough to make my wishlist one item shorter. Keep an eye out for a review soon! :)

I think my favorite tools are the absolutely ridiculous ones, like the corn stripper, although, if someone handed me a Vita Mix I'm not exactly going to say no...
the Thermomix: i have never heard of that and i thought i was clued in!
fantasy would be the french maid to come in and do all the cooking and cleanup for me :)
appliance i covet. hmmm. I actually dont need anything. Ok maybe a hurom juicer. But that's like not a biggie really. I hate cleanup LOL
wooo.... that thermomix sounds like a power machine!!! I love kitchen gadgets, i think I buy at least 2-3 per year. my last purchase was a soy & porridge maker and I'm so happy with it! :)
No innuendo here, lol. Back when I was saving up for a Vita-Mix and other raw kitchen tools, just thinking about them was pretty exciting! I kind of take the Alton Brown approach on having too many "uni-tasker" tools, my kitchen is only so big! Think I'd like a kitchen scale that gives all the nutrition info also.
wow, that thermomix i have never heard of!! but since i have alot of the things that it can do, i'd probably just stick with the vitamix as my coveted item... as i don't have a blender. i try to avoid the smaller single-use tools, since i have a small apt/kitchen. maybe someday :)
I want everything listed here and then some! I do have a stand mixer, though- it was a Christmas gift in high school. Yeah, while most teenage girls ask for clothes, I'm all about the kitchen gadgets. My wedding registry might be a few decades long.

I'd love to just have a blender that actually crushes big chunks of ice. I have the Magic Bullet and while it has tons of uses it CAN NOT break up big pieces of ice!
Currently I am hooked on my Magic Bullet! But heck, that Thermomix puts the Magic Bullet to shame. I think 1400 dollars is worth it if it really does all that you say! I mean, it could make anything!! Goodness. Thanks for the low-down on all these "sexy power tools" ;)
I would LOVE a Kitchenaid, juicer, and immersion blender. And a capuccino/ espresso maker. And a dehydrator. And, and, and...
I'm coveting a madeleine pan right now. I have been dying to make those cookies for weeks but am not apt to buy one from William-Sonoma for $40.
I am trying to stop myself from reading that article on the Thermomix because a) I live in Canada and b) I covet kitchen things HARD. It's how the Breville juicer ended up on my kitchen counter.
I love that strawberry huller although my parents would call it completely unnecessary.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the VitaMix. I nixed that idea in favour of the juicer because I figured I would never need a VitaMix for half of the things it does but now I want one because most of the food bloggie recipes I see tend to use a VitaMix.
I do have a Kitchen Aid stand-up mixer and that thing works wonders. I would definitely add that to your future wedding registry.
A few years ago my mom gave me a Kitchenaid stand mixer. Best.present.ever!! I would love a basic food processor though...or a garlic press :-) I covet kitchen gadgets the way most women lust after shoes.
The Thermomix looks AMAZING! I had no idea that something like that even existed! I would definitely love to try it out =)
Whoa awesome!! ive never heard of the thermomix but it sounds amazing. one day! lol. I think my favorite gadget right now is my food processor. My fantasy kitchen would be one I can move around in. Organize everything and a double oven is a must! Oh with a gas grill on the stove too. Ha!..the list could go on and on...Ah well! Have a rockin day hon!
I've never seen the strawberry and corn thingys before! I'm actually in the process of finding things to add to my wedding registry on myregistry.com, so I'll have to check those two out!

But, I will be buying a strawberry huller the moment I see one! Just in time for the season too!

I have pretty much indulged myself in my kitchen appliance desires... I think the only thing I still want is a cast iron pan. Oh! And a salad spinner.

I just want a vitamix! I have a mixer and I love it but it's not necessary in my kitchen really but I'd love to puree a carrot in a vitamix just to watch it!
I am so so totally coveting the thermomix right now. My fave kitchen tool is my calphalon non-stick skillet. So wonderful!
I would trade my green power juicer for a hurom juicer.... but I could never live without my Thermomix :-)
